Yuri Slezkine is the Jane K. Sather Professor of History at the University of California, Berkeley. His books include The House of Government: A Saga of the Russian Revolution (Princeton University Press, Auguts 2017); The Jewish Century (Princeton University Press, 2004), which won the National Jewish Book Award; and Arctic Mirrors: Russia and the Small Peoples of the North (Cornell University Press, 1994).


In its inaugural year, the Russia & Eurasia Workshop (REW) brings together graduate students and faculty to present research on Russia and Eurasia, broadly defined (i.e. imperial Russia, the Soviet Union, their successor states, and neighboring regions). REW congregates at lunchtime and features both lectures and pre-circulated papers, followed by discussion. Those interested in participating are encouraged to contact the workshop coordinators, Kaspar Pucek and Taylor Zajicek.
