This conference will honor the scholarly contributions of Professor Hendrik Hartog, and will precede his retirement at the end of the 2018-19 academic year.

“Between Private and Public” will focus on American History and its intersection with the law. This conference is organized by Professor Jacob Katz Cogan (University of Cincinnati) and Kenneth Mack (Harvard University), and generously funded by the Center for Collaborative History, Program in American Studies, and Program in Law and Public Affairs.
