History Writing Group - Note-Taking for Research
Note-Taking for Research (Or, How to Herd the Cats)
The History Writing Group is offering a workshop focused on strategies for taking good notes, keeping them in order and accessible, and handling citation information through Zotero.
Are you reading your sources and wondering what to write down? Are you plagued by a suspicion that the notes you're taking now will stray into hidden corners of your computer so it's impossible to use them when you start writing? Do you want to avoid the panic of hunting for citation information at the last second?
All of us could stand to improve our note-taking and citation-organizing habits, which is why the History Writing Group is offering a workshop on Note-Taking for Research.
We'll hear from a few experienced historians about their note-taking strategies (one size does not fit all), get a quick crash course in Zotero so you can stop stressing about citations, and leave plenty of time for questions at the end.
Come with your questions, come with your own methods - we'll have plenty of time for discussion.
