Join us for an “Introduction to the Job Market” workshop on May 20, noon to 2pm, in Dickinson 210. Over lunch Michael Blaakman and Matt Jones will draw on their recent experiences as a candidate and a search committee member respectively to take you through the basics of the application process: timelines, documents, interviews, and campus visits. From about 1pm we will have a “Jobs and Java” workshop, where some of those who were on the job market last year will share their cover letters, CVs, and teaching philosophy documents, and we will discuss how to prepare your own. If you have drafts of your own application materials, please don’t hesitate to bring them to be shared and discussed in small groups.
Lunch will be served, and you are welcome to attend in person or over zoom.
