Paula Vedoveli is a Ph.D. student in the History Department at Princeton University. Her dissertation examines the relationship between financial and legal understandings of credibility and the emergence of global orders in the nineteenth century. Vedoveli's research looks at how notions of credibility, credit, and reputation were employed in the development of business and social networks in the second half of the nineteenth century to the first decade of the twentieth century. She is particularly interested in the formation of networks between Rio de Janeiro, Mexico City, Buenos Aires, London, Paris and New York in order to understand how position in imperial structures affected Latin American countries' place in the orders that were emerging through the nineteenth century.

Over the last three years, Vedoveli has conducted multi-archival research in the United Kingdom, the United States, Chile, Brazil, and Argentina.

She graduated summa cum laude in History from the University of Rio de Janeiro, and later read for a master’s in International Relations at the Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro.

The Latin America Workshop is sponsored by the Program in Latin American Studies and the Center for Collaborative History.
