Tera Hunter's book Bound in Wedlock: Slave and Free Black Marriage in the Nineteenth Century (Belknap Press, 2017) was honored with the Joan Kelly Memorial Prize for women’s history and/or feminist theory and the Littleton-Griswold Prize in US law and society, broadly defined.
Nell Irvin Painter was recognized with the Award for Scholarly Distinction to senior historians for lifetime achievement.
