The 2018 MAAH Stone Book Award, sponsored by the Museum of African American History Boston and Nantucket and the James M. and Cathleen D. Stone Foundation, celebrates writing on the subject of African American history and culture by awarding a $25,000 prize to the author of an exceptional adult non-fiction book written in a literary style.
Tera Hunter's book Bound in Wedlock: Slave and Free Black Marriage in the Nineteenth Century is the first comprehensive history of African American marriage in the nineteenth century.
