Jan. 25, 2024

The Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities awards the Humanities Book of the Year to a book that best exemplifies scholarship on Louisiana topics or by Louisiana writers. In "The Great Power of Small Nations: Indigenous Diplomacy in the Gulf South" (University of Pennsylvania Press) Professor Elizabeth Ellis chronicles how smaller Native American nations shaped the Gulf South and colonial Louisiana, the ramifications of which reverberate then and now.
