Joshua Garrett-Davis' article wins award

Joshua Garrett-Davis's article, "The Intertribal Drum of Radio: The Indians for Indians Hour and Native American Media, 1941-1951" was selected for the 2019 Oscar O. Winther Award for best article in the Western Historical Quarterly from the Western History Association. The WHQ Board of Editors noted the originality of “The Intertribal Drum of Radio,” its scope, and its significant contribution to the field of western history, saying, “This article discusses the history and undeniable impact that the Indians for Indian Hour radio show had upon mainstream radio, Indigenous media, and Native tribal and intertribal communities.”

The Winther Award was announced at the 2019 WHA Conference in Las Vegas during the Awards Ceremony on Friday, October 18, 2019.
