April 25, 2022

Keith Wailoo, Henry Putnam University Professor of History and Public Affairs, has been named co-chair of The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine committee with Keith Yamamoto of UCSF.

Societies across the globe face the challenge of managing the risks, benefits, and ethical and societal implications of new technologies. The National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine has created a new ad hoc committee to develop a governance framework for science, technology, and innovation that will be founded on core ethical principles with a focus on equity. They will consider the potential benefits and risks that emerging science, technology, and innovation in health and medicine can bring to society.
