Keith Wailoo, Henry Putnam University Professor of History and Public Affairs, gave the keynote address at the National Academy of Medicine's (NAM) annual meeting in October in Washington, DC. The theme of the meeting was "The Evolution of Technology in Biomedical Science: Promises and Challenges."

His keynote address, "Technology, Diversity, and the Future of Health: The Social Predicament of Genetic Innovation," presented a historical review of technology and health and focused on disparities in access and treatment. The talk drew on his years of research in the history and evolution of genetics technology in medicine and society, covering both the promise and the peril.
