Jack Tannous's book, The Making of the Medieval Middle East: Religion, Society, and Simple Believers, received the 2019 James Henry Breasted Prize, which is awarded by the American Historical Association (AHA). The prize recognizes the best book in any field of history prior to CE 1000.
