Gyan Prakash’s book Emergency Chronicles: Indira Gandhi and Democracy’s Turning Point (2018: Penguin; 2019: Princeton University Press) received the 2020 Ramnath Goenka Award for the best non-fiction book. The award ceremony was held in New Delhi on January 20, 2020, where the President of India, Mr Ram Nath Kovind, presented him with the award for his book.
