The Association of Asian Studies awarded the Joseph Levenson Prize to Gods of Mount Tai: Familiarity and the Material Culture of North China, 1000–2000 (Brill) by Susan Naquin, Professor of History and East Asian Studies, emerita. The book tells the story of the Lady of Mount Tai, northern China’s most important female deity.

The award recognizes the best English-language book on China, pre-1900.
