Dissertation Title:
"Crazy Standards: The World Health Organization, Psychiatric Epidemiology, and the Remaking of Psychiatry"


David studies the history of the mind sciences, anthropology, and colonialism. He interested in nineteenth- and twentieth-century constructions of “the primitive mind” and the nexus of anthropology and the mind sciences more generally. He wrote his M.A. thesis on the history of Australian ethnopsychiatry and its relationship to the assimilation of Aboriginal Australians in the 1960s and early 1970s.
