Dissertation Title:
Legal Lineage: Families and the Transformation of Belonging in the Southwestern Great Lakes


Elena Telles Ryan received her BA in Computer Science from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota. Following a stint as a software engineer, Elena came to Princeton's history department to study early American history. Since her arrival, Elena has received fellowships from the Princeton Center for Digital Humanities, and has coordinated the Colonial and Revolutionary Americas Workshop. She is at work researching a dissertation on the legal order of the Great Lakes from the end of the Seven Years War to early nineteenth-century United States occupation. Elena is also the senior editorial assistant for the Journal of the Early Republic.
