Bio/Description

Gretchin is a PhD student in the History of Science whose research focuses on early modern magic and the occult sciences, looking particularly at practice and experience. Her work often contemplates the relationship between the intellectual and social traditions of magic by considering the potential purposes and uses of anonymous manuscripts of magic.

Gretchin received an MA in the Social Sciences from the University of Chicago in 2022 and graduated summa cum laude from the University of Kentucky in 2021 with a BA in History and minors in Italian and Chemistry. She is currently a President's Fellow at Princeton.
