Dissertation Title:
Biopolitical Socialism: Antibiosis, Scientific Capital, and China’s Cold War Rationality, 1949–1990
Yang is a PhD candidate in the History of Science program. She is currently working on her dissertation, titled “Antibiotics, Scientific Expertise, and Pharmaceutical Marketplace in the People’s Republic of China, 1949-1990,” which examines the interrelated development of science, technology, and medicine in modern China through a history of antibiotics.
Yang has a BS from Peking University and an MS from UC Riverside. Before discovering her passion in history, Yang conducted research in physical chemistry.
