Yuzhou Bai is a Ph.D. candidate working on Chinese intellectual history and history of religions. His dissertation project entitled “Child Prodigies in Early Medieval China” examines textual representations of child prodigies that proliferated in second- to seventh-century China and hopes to shed light on the transformations of political culture, educational practice and social norms in this era. His broader research interests include ritual studies, comparative studies of religion and politics, and gender and sexuality.
