Teal Arcadi, who just landed a position in at a teaching-focused institution, joins us for this season—focused on teaching and teaching statements.

“Jobs & Java” is an informal skills workshop and support group for graduate students and postdocs in historical fields. Wherever possible we will discuss strategies for approaching the academic and related job markets, using “live” jobs and real application materials, and sharing experiences good and bad.

Defining Success in Graduate School aka First-year Panel

Hear how graduate students from different years, specializations, and backgrounds have navigated different stages of the PhD: from preparing for generals to defining career goals; talking about your work with friends and family to teaching; publishing, applying for jobs, and trying to stay happy and healthy all the while.
