The fellowship allows him to spend a month conducting research at the Gilder Lehrman Collection repository and other archives in New York City.
The Labouisse Prize, which awards $35,000 to each recipient, enables graduating seniors to engage in a project that exemplifies the life and work of Henry Richardson Labouisse, a 1926 Princeton alumnus who was a diplomat, international public servant and champion for the causes of international justice and international development.
Max Diallo Jakobsen and Madeleine LeBeau were recognized for their commitment to undergraduate student life.
He will use the fellowship to work on his project "Queer, Catholic, Communist: Forging a Sexual Revolution in the Italian Republic, 1958–1989."

Harshbarger is concentrating in history and is also pursuing three minors: in history and the practice of diplomacy; Near Eastern studies; and Russian, East European and Eurasian studies. At Oxford, he will pursue an MPhil in history. He will begin his studies there in October.
